2 Kids Injured In Md. Crash Involving Police Car

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) -- Two children were severely injured in a crash in Anne Arundel County involving a police officer from neighboring Howard County who made an illegal U-turn.

Anne Arundel police say the crash happened Saturday around 4 p.m. in the Glen Burnie area. Police say the children, ages 11 and 4, were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two adults in the car with the children were also injured, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

The officer involved in the crash was identified as Symchay Kon Bendu. Police say Bendu was on duty at the time of the crash but unfamiliar with the area, which is about 10 miles east of the border between the two counties. Police say he was trying to return to Howard County when the accident happened.
