Senior Vice President of public and community relations joined the Norris and Davis show to discuss the Ravens and the ring ceremony.

Kevin Byrne

Byrne started out by differentiating the player rings from the rest of the organization. Their ring has a red diamond by their name while the rest of the people in the organization did not have the red diamond. Byrne said that the ring is much bigger than the 2000 ring.

Byrne said that it was Steve Biscoitti idea to have the ring of honor people get rings as well. He said it was his way of showing how important those guys were to the franchise and they, in turn, were very appreciated.

Steve then asked about the ring ceremony. Byrne said that after a touching video montage they got their rings in crystal boxes. Also Byrne said that Jacoby Jones bought his Mom and went on dancing with a bunch of different people. When the DJ played hot-in-here the players got Ray Lewis to do his dance one more time.

Bob then asked about the passing of the torch as Bisciotti told Flacco that he is now the leader of the team. The QB reacted as he normally does, he is truly unflappable, and took the honor with a grain of humility. Byrne said that teammates truly flock to Joe.

Steve then asked about the Bisciotti quote, who after losing to the patriots the year before, said he didn't know how much more disappointment he could take. The lows are guaranteed and the highs are not. Byrne said that it was in fact a very strong statement. The losses hurt so much and it is a very tough business. The losses are so dramatic and the wins are relatively short lived. When you put so much in to it the losses hurt so much and the wins are a relief, but then you are right back into the grind the following week.

Byrne concluded by sharing the final moment when the DJ called the players up to the front for a picture. Right before a picture was about to be taken, Kruger ran from the back of the room and everyone embraced him for the photo. Byrne said this just showed how that whole squad, whether they are still teammates or not, will walk together forever.
