Man Reportedly Assaulted Along D.C. Bike Trail
WASHINGTON (AP) -- D.C. police say they're investigating the assault of a man on a popular bike trail.
Police say the assault was reported Tuesday evening on the Metropolitan Branch Trail, an 8-mile path that runs from Union Station to Silver Spring, Md.
Police say the man said that he was biking along the path when he was struck multiple times by a young man, who then fled the area with a large group of juveniles.
Nothing was taken from the man, and police say they don't believe robbery was the motive.
Police say in a message to the community that they consider this is an unprovoked assault and not part of a pattern connected to other beatings.
