Doug Gansler To Make Bid For Governor Official In Sept.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland Attorney Doug Gansler has announced several policy proposals he will advocate in his run for governor to help fight domestic violence.

Gansler said Tuesday that "running for governor is about ideas and policies that will help protect and improve the lives of Maryland families and children, not about bunting and slogans."

Gansler's proposals include creating a network of Family Justice Centers around the state. He also is calling for the creation of Domestic Violence Dockets and pushing for legislation to increase penalties for crimes committed in the presence of a child.

Carrie Glenn, Gansler's campaign manager, says Gansler will formally announce his candidacy in September.
