ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman says she will seek election to the seat she was appointed to.

Neuman, who was appointed to the post by the County Council in February, told the Capital Gazette editorial board that she will run next year.

Neuman, a Repblican, was appointed to the County Executive position in February to succeed John R. Leopold, who resigned after being convicted of official misconduct.

Del. Steve Schuh and County Councilman John Grasso have also announced they are seeking the GOP nomination. Democrat Joanna Conti announced her bid last month.

The primary is June 24, 2014.
