Fort Meade Bars Service Members From Gas Station That Sells 'Spice'

FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) -- The Fort Meade garrison commander is barring service members from a Hanover gas station.

The commander ordered that the Exxon station on Ridge Road in Hanover be added to the list of prohibited sites after authorities reported that a synthetic marijuana product known as Spice is sold there. It was initially placed off limits in January, but removed in February after the owner said the station no longer sold the product.

However, the Metropolitan Area Drug Task Force recently informed the board that recent surveillance found the product is still being sold to Fort Meade service members.

An Exxon in Odenton and Tobacco Stop in Laurel are also on the list.

Meanwhile, the Little Falls Park area in Potomac has been taken off the list.
