Steve Davis: Loss Of Pitta Devastating, But Manageable

Make no mistake, this is a huge loss for the Ravens. With Boldin gone, Pitta would be the guy to catch balls in traffic, over the middle and in the slot.

Dickson isn't nearly as reliable, and the other receivers just don't have that kind of game and size.

However, the Ravens do have the talent to do with this. Adding Shiancoe brings in a guy who can catch the ball. Rice and Pierce are outstanding players. Torrey Smith is only getting better. Hopefully, one of the other receivers will step up.

I still wouldn't be surprised if they sign Leach to bolster the running game, which might be more necessary now.

Also, a veteran receiver will likely be available towards the end of training camp when other teams start cutting.

On a personal level, I feel terrible for Pitta. He's a really good guy, and this was his free agent year, so he likely will, for now, miss out on a lot of money.
