Zinno and Brendon Ayanbadejo Talk PED's

Former Baltimore Raven Brendon Ayanbadejo joined Mark Zinno on Baltimore Baseball tonight to talk PED's in sports.

Brendon started the conversation by giving his opinion on drug testing in baseball and the use of PED's in the sport. "You're playing 160+ games a year and guys are hurting so just naturally in the culture, guys are taking stimulants and all kinds of things to stay healthy. Baseball is trying to change the culture and now they want it to be a drug free culture…but they're still trying to catch up. It's still engrained in some of these guys and you're not going to be able to necessarily change that in a decade."

Mark talked about the increase in testing in the NFL and asked Brendon his opinion on their testing.

"I think it's consistent with the times. They're always adding new things on there that they think are making guys perform better. So you're seeing aderall and you're seeing different things pop up on there."

Mark asked Brendon to explain the temptation for young players to take PED's to gain an edge to make a team. "I think a lot of guys are talented and they have the skill that it takes. But that's not a performance thing. It's a repetition thing." He elaborated by saying that he was once in that position. "I've been that guy. I've been cut by three NFL teams before I made my first NFL team. So for me it was 'okay I need to get better, I need to hone my skill'…I don't think the answer lies in using PED's."
