Legislative Ethics Panel To Meet

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland's legislative ethics panel has scheduled a meeting, after a newspaper wrote about a complaint filed against a lawmaker.

The Washington Post reported that the panel will meet Aug. 21.

The meeting comes after the newspaper's report on a complaint alleging a conflict of interest against Del. Joseph Vallario, a Prince George's County Democrat who chairs the House Judiciary Committee.

Kenniss Henry says that in advocating for a measure to make it easier to prosecute vehicular manslaughter cases, she told Vallario details about her daughter's 2010 death in a hit-and-run accident. Vallario's son, who operates out of his father's law office, provided legal representation to the driver.

Vallario says he did nothing wrong. Vallario says they maintain separate practices, and he was not involved in the case.
