Pasadena Man Arrested After Police Roofing Shingle Sting Involving Craigslist

PASADENA, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police have arrested a man they say tried to make money with roofing shingles he fraudulently obtained and selling them on Craigslist.com.

Officers say a man placed an order for building materials from a supply firm in the name of a company in the county without the company's knowledge. The company was notified.

Detectives say the roofing materials were advertised on Craigslist.com and an officer posed as a buyer for the items. Police say the suspect agreed to sell the shingles for $3,800.

On July 26, authorities say the items were delivered. Police say the suspect met with the undercover officer and received money for the goods. He was immediately arrested.

Lloyd K. Butts, 49, of Orchard Beach has been charged with felony theft and identity fraud.
