Powerball Excitement: Thousands Take A Gamble On The $425M Jackpot

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The nation is watching and waiting for a winner in the fourth largest lottery in U.S. history. Powerball numbers have been drawn, and the jackpot prize has jumped to $448 million.

Kai Jackson has the mad rush for tickets.

People across the country are hoping they have that lucky ticket to financial paradise.

Big money is up for grabs in the multi-state Powerball lottery game. Dreamers lined up at the Canton Market in Baltimore.

The jackpot stands at $448 million, and that has even some skeptics buying tickets.

"My kids would have a great trust fund. Give back to my mama, my stepdaddy, my brother and then I'm out of Baltimore. See you," said Miracle Vaughn.

There have been winning Powerball jackpots in Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia.

Maryland is not on that list right now, but a group of teachers calling themselves "The Three Amigos" split $218 million, Maryland's portion of the monster Mega Millions jackpot last year, which was $656 million.

"I would not take the lump sum, I would do the yearly," said Anae Adams, Fells Point. "Because when you have a lot of money in your hands you don't do anything but spend it."

This is the fourth biggest jackpot in the game's history. And that has players hoping they pick the winning numbers.

It's easier to list the states that don't have Powerball--only seven don't play the game. Cashing out would give the winner or winners a $244 million lump sum.

"I went to Giant, my girlfriend works there, and she wanted one for her girlfriend so I figured I'd get a couple," said Terry Babkoff.

Your odds of winning the Powerball jackpot: One in 175 million. Good luck.

And here are the numbers you've been waiting for. They are 05, 25, 30, 58, 59 and the Powerball is 32.
