'Hey, That's My Car!': 22-Year-Old Charged With Theft After Bizarre Chase
SEVERNA PARK, Md. (WJZ) -- A 22-year-old was arrested after police say he stole property from a victim's car Wednesday night in Severna Park.
The victim was returning to his 2011 Honda located in a parking lot at Baltimore & Annapolis Boulevard when he saw Garrett Randall Sullivan in the driver side of his car.
The victim yelled, "Hey, that's my car!" at which time Sullivan ran away. The victim chased Sullivan.
During the chase, Sullivan dropped a phone, which belonged to the victim. The victim recovered his phone and called 911 for help.
While pursuing Sullivan, the victim yelled to other citizens, "Hey, that guy broke into my car!"
This prompted a witness to run after Sullivan. The witness saw Sullivan throwing items from his pants as he continued to run.
The witness followed the suspect to Hatton Drive, where he saw Sullivan take a bike.
Sullivan tried to ride away on the bicycle, but he was tackled by the witness who detained him until police arrived.
The victim of the theft recovered one of his phones but additional property was still missing.
Sullivan was charged with three counts of theft.
