Frederick County Sheriff's Office Rolling Out New Cruisers

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is rolling out new cruisers.

The Dodge Charger cruisers are replacing patrol vehicles that have been driven 125,000 miles. The 2013 models cost about $24,000 each, and the county hopes to have 20 new vehicles by 2014.

The new cruisers have V-8 engines, an upgrade from the V-6 models that had been in use.

Sheriff Chuck Jenkins tells The News-Post of Frederick that the new models feature improved safety, fuel use and stability.
