WEATHER BLOG: Wettest Day Of The Week Approaches

#mdwx: Happy Tuesday! Latest weather maps and short-term guidance suggests that most of the area will be rain-free in the afternoon. The rapid-refresh model suggests a thunderstorm in spots west of the city toward the evening as what is left of the stuff in Ohio approaches and then a shower to t-storm in spots Tuesday night.

Wednesday looks like a somewhat more active day. While some earlier runs suggested that the wettest weather Wednesday might pass to the west and south, the 12Z NAM came in wetter looking. So we are sticking with the forecast keeping Wednesday the wettest day of the week.

In the longer range, the biggest dilemma that we're confronted with is trying to figure out when we will see a couple more showers and a thunderstorm, especially from Thursday morning onward. We have to acknowledge the possibility of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through the Labor Day holiday weekend as any impulse of jet stream energy could trigger the development of showers or t-storms for the mid-Atlantic. No one day through the weekend looks to be a complete wash-out at this time, though.
