Md. School Bus Driver Suspended For Cell Phone Use

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- An Anne Arundel County school bus driver has been suspended after a photograph posted online appeared to show him using his cell phone while driving.

School system spokesman Bob Mosier tells The Capital of Annapolis that the driver was pulled from his afternoon route Friday and will remain suspended during the investigation.

The driver's name was not disclosed.

A mother of a Central Middle School student posted on Facebook a picture that appeared to show the driver talking on his cell phone while driving. The driver's bus serves that school.

Maryland law prohibits drivers from using a cell phone without a hands-free device. Bus drivers face a three-day suspension for their first offense. Repeat offenders face suspension for at least five days and could also lose their bus license.
