Possible Firework Goes Off Outside Montgomery Co. Police Headquarters

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say a possible firework has gone off outside the public safety headquarters in Gaithersburg.

Police say the low-grade explosive went off in the parking lot around 11:10 a.m. Tuesday.

No one was injured, and the building did not have to be evacuated.

Police say a juvenile boy who accompanied his mother to the building on an unrelated matter, then waited outside as his mother went in, was questioned by police in connection with the explosive. He has been released, and police did not immediately release his name.
