4 Homes Evacuated After Pickup Truck Explosion In East Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ)— One person was injured and four homes were evacuated after a pickup truck explosion in East Baltimore.

It happened Thursday afternoon in the 6600-block of Elsrode Avenue.

Baltimore City Fire and Police units, as well as arson, hazmat and bomb squads, responded to the scene.

The Baltimore County Fire Department evacuated four homes and created a safe zone.

Officials now say an open can of freon was left in the truck and exploded.

The driver suffered minor injuries and refused treatment. No other injuries were reported.
