Fund Will Aid Children Of Slain Navy Yard Guard

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- The family of a security guard killed in the Washington Navy Yard shootings last week is announcing a memorial fund to help his three children.

Richard Michael Ridgell's wife Tracey said Tuesday the fund will help pay for college and other expenses of their daughters Heather, Megan and Maddi.

She says 33-year-old Heather is paying off college loans. Nineteen-year-old Megan is in her third year at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. Seventeen-year-old Maddi is in high school.

The Ridgell Children Memorial Fund is through PNC Bank, 2325 Hanover Pike, Hampstead, Md., 21074.

A military support group called the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors has established a fund to support the families of all 12 people killed by a gunman at the installation on Sept. 16.
