Inmate Convicted In Death Of Cellmate

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- A man convicted of killing his cellmate at the North Branch Correctional Institution near Cumberland has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The Allegany County State's Attorney's Office said Wednesday that Wesley Curtis, 29, was sentenced for strangling Charles Richardson IV. Curtis, 28, was ordered to serve the sentence consecutively to the 50-year term he was serving for attempted murder when he killed Richardson.

Prosecutors say Richardson was found dead in his cell on Sept. 27, 2012. He had been serving a life sentence for two murders in Columbia in 2007.
