Howard County Officer Injured In Head-On Crash

COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) -- A Howard County police officer has been injured in a head-on crash near Columbia but is expected to survive.

Police say Officer Byung Moon was driving a police cruiser early Sunday about 3:45 a.m. on Washington Boulevard. That's when another car crossed the center line and struck the police cruiser head on.

Moon was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with non-life threatening injuries. Police say Moon is listed in stable condition.

The other driver is identified as Ruben Guillen of Columbia. Police say Guillen also was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Investigators say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
