Md. Leaders Commemorate Medicaid Expansion
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland officials are gathering at Health Care for the Homeless to commemorate the expansion of Medicaid.
Federal, state and local officials will be at Health Care for the Homeless on Tuesday, as Maryland opens its online insurance exchange as a part of health care reform.
About 70 percent of patients at the Baltimore facility currently lack comprehensive health insurance.
Kevin Lindamood, president and CEO of Health Care for the Homeless, says the expansion will enhance the facility's ability to help vulnerable people.
Rep. John Sarbanes, D-Md., is scheduled to attend the event, as well as state Sen. Verna Jones-Rodwell and Del. Mary Washington.
