Metro Plans Red Line Work This Weekend

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro says free shuttle buses will replace trains on a section of the red line to allow for weekend work.

Metro says that beginning Friday at 10 p.m. and continuing through system closing on Sunday, shuttle buses will replace red line trains between Silver Spring and Fort Totten.

The Takoma station will be closed.

Metro will run both express buses that will run between Silver Spring and Fort Totten and local buses that will stop at the Takoma station.

Metro says there will be regular weekend service on the orange, blue and yellow lines.

Passengers traveling on the green line to or from the Greenbelt station only will experience delays during daytime hours.

On Saturday, Metro will open at 5 a.m. to accommodate riders traveling to the annual Army Ten-Miler.
