Man Stole $20K Meant For Frederick Crime Victims

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A former worker in the Frederick County State's Attorney's Office has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $20,000 intended for crime victims.

Leroy Ambush III, 32, of Frederick pleaded guilty Monday to felony theft.

State Prosecutor Emmet Davitt says he'll recommend a six-month jail sentence at Ambush's sentencing hearing next month. The offense carries a maximum penalty of 15 years and a $15,000 fine.

Davitt says Ambush stole restitution payments intended for crime victims 56 times between February 2010 and March 2013. Prosecutors say he worked as a victim and witness coordinator.
