Bob Haynie: College And Pro Football Picks

There is a 1963 movie titled: "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World". Well, when it comes to my recent football picks, I had a "Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Week". Actually, it was a deplorable week. Almost like I wasn't even trying or knew what I was doing.

1-5? Embarrassing.

In college, my only winner was Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish (-3) took a close one--14-10-- from USC on national television. Unfortunately, my other college choices were not very impressive. Maryland (-5.5) got drubbed by Wake Forest (34-10) and in the process lost WR's Stephon Diggs and Deon Long to season-ending injuries. My other loser was Texas A&M (-14) who were upset by resurgent Auburn.

My NFL selections stunk on every level. The Lions (-2.5) lost at home to the Bengals, 27-24, as Mike Nugent kicked a 54-yard field goal as the clock expired. A field goal in overtime also proved to be the difference as the Jets upset the Patriots (-3.5) 30-27. The Chiefs did manage to beat the Texans 17-16. As you can see, they didn't cover the (-7) spread.

After this disaster, my record stands at 25-15-2.

The quest for the perfect week continues.

College:
Wake Forest (+24) @ Miami
Clemson (-16.5) @ Maryland
UCLA (+23.5) @ Oregon

NFL:
Chiefs (-9) Browns
Giants (+5) @ Eagles
Falcons (+1) @ Cardinals

Happy Football!
