Retired Trooper Killed When Car Hits His Business

ROCK HALL, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a retired trooper was killed when a car crashed into a garage at his Rock Hall business, where he was living.

Police say Philip Nolan Jr., 57, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 6 a.m. Friday. Troopers say a car was traveling west on Route 20 when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Police say the car left the road and entered the garage part of his business, where Nolan was living.

Nolan retired from the state police in 2005 as a sergeant after serving nearly 22 years.

Police say there are two suspects involved in the crash. The incident is being investigated and will be reviewed by the Kent County State's Attorney.
