Silberstein Insurance Group Wins Mammoth Manic Monday Meltdown 2013

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—If you were at Jimmy's in Fells Point on Monday morning, you had a lot of company. Hundreds of people turned out at the square on Broadway for WJZ's 16th annual Mammoth Manic Monday Meltdown.

Tens of thousands of people voted for their favorites.

Ron Matz has more on whom took home the big prizes.

The crowd was pumped. The square on Broadway was alive. It was cold, but the Mammoth Manic Monday Meltdown is a Baltimore tradition.

Spirit Award #1 went to the Cardinal Shehan cheerleaders.

The city's Department of Social Services won Spirit Award #2.

"I couldn't be more excited. I was at a loss for words. It was so cold, but I felt like a Raven this morning. It was Manic Monday, and I wouldn't do it any other way," said Rufus Roundtree, tuba player and representative of the Baltimore City Department of Social Services.

The Blast cheerleaders were there.

The Meltdown starts the holidays.

"This is a great Manic Monday, and I want to thank everybody out there for your support of WJZ. We really appreciate it, and from all of us at WJZ, we hope you have a great holiday season," said Jay Newman, WJZ president and general manager.

The Silberstein Insurance Group took home the coveted Valentino.

"I'm proud of everybody here and everybody back at the office. They've done a great job. I never believed it would be the way it was. It's been a great experience. I recommend to any company to do Manic Monday," said Richard Silberstein, Silberstein Insurance Group.

A record number of votes were tallied in this year's Meltdown competition. Nearly 99,000 votes were cast at CBSBaltimore.com.
