Worker Dies After Construction Site Fall
SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say a carpenter died after a fall at a Silver Spring construction site on Thanksgiving Day.
Police say the 56-year-old man was working in the garage level of a row of townhouses under construction near Poplar Run Drive on Thursday morning when he slipped on ice and struck his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say it doesn't appear that the man was carrying anything and a hard hat was found near his body. Police say there are no signs of foul play.
Maryland Occupational Safety and Health will investigate the accident.
