Frederick Leaders OK Naming Rights For Stadium

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The name of Frederick's minor-league baseball stadium may be changing.

The Frederick Keys would be allowed to seek a sponsor for stadium naming rights under an amended contract approved Thursday by city leaders.

The Frederick News-Post reports that the city would get 35 percent of the net profit from the naming fees. The remainder would go to the team.

The stadium is currently known as Harry Grove Stadium. The Harry Grove part of the name will not change. Grove was a founder of the past Frederick Hustlers, a semipro team in the city, and the stadium was built in part by his family.

The city has been looking for new revenue streams to cover the cost of operating the stadium.
