WEATHER BLOG: Big Changes Coming

Quite the very active almost winter weather pattern we have gotten ourselves into! Seems like there is one winter storm after another. The first bit of the forecast period looks pretty easy. It will be cold Saturday as an area of arctic high pressure sets up over Pa. and becomes cloudy by morning. Lows overnight will dip into the 20s.

It will be cloudy and cold to start Sunday morning. Snow will begin to move in during the morning hours and will cause slippery travel before it changes to a mix of sleet and freezing rain in the afternoon. Eventually, we should get enough of a marine influence where all of the precipitation becomes rain in the city as enough of an easterly flow pushes the low-level cold out.

Obviously, the northern and western suburbs will see a longer period of icing Sunday afternoon and lasting into the night as the cold air will be tougher and take longer to push out.
