D.C. Policeman From Md. Who Was Facing Child Porn Charges Found Dead

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A District of Columbia police officer who was facing charges of producing child pornography has been found dead in the Washington Channel.

Police confirmed Wednesday that a man pulled from the water on Tuesday night is Officer Marc Washington of Waldorf, Md.

Washington, 32, was arrested earlier in December on charges that he took nude pictures of a 15-year-old female runaway.  Authorities said Washington asked to speak with the girl privately in her bedroom when she returned home, then directed her to undress so that he could take photographs of any injuries. Washington had been released from custody but was ordered to be on permanent home confinement. He was also ordered to wear an electronic monitor.

A telephone message left for Washington's public defender early Wednesday was not immediately returned.
