Teen Charged In Myersville House Fire

MYERSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is charging an 18-year-old Myersville man with first-degree arson in a house fire that apparently stemmed from a disputed drug deal.

Capt. Tim Clarke says Joshua Moore is in custody after acknowledging his involvement in the fire Monday afternoon that destroyed the home on Clark Road in Myersville.

Moore couldn't be reached for comment. No defense attorney is listed for him in online court records.

Clarke says Moore was in a dispute over a marijuana deal with one of the home's occupants.

The Frederick News-Post reports that homeowner Lance Kirkpatrick lived with his wife, two children and a 19-year-old stepson. No family members were home at the time of the fire.

Clarke says damage to the home is estimated at $250,000.
