Mistrial In Case Arising From Md. Officer's Death
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A mistrial has been declared in a case stemming from the death of a Prince George's County police officer in a car crash.
The state's attorney's office says the mistrial was declared after a juror emailed the judge to say she couldn't judge another person based on her religious beliefs.
Prosecutors say the juror didn't mention anything about religious beliefs during the jury selection process. The juror is due back in court next month for a contempt hearing.
Kevon Neal was on trial for motor vehicle manslaughter in the August 2012 death of Officer Adrian Morris. Prosecutors say they plan to retry him.
Morris died in an August 2012 crash while pursuing a car being driven by Neal after an attempted vehicle break-in at a gas station in Laurel.
