The fire marshal’s office says investigators determined the car was intentionally ignited and that Dyer had reported it stolen to D.C. Police. Officials say Dyer bought the car for $14,000 and could not make his monthly payments.

Dyer is awaiting extradition from D.C. to Maryland to face charges. A phone listing for Dyer could not immediately be found.
