Police: Woman Soliciting Escort Services Online Victim Of Attempted Robbery

LINTHICUM, Md. (WJZ)—Anne Arundel County detectives believe a woman soliciting escort services online was targeted for a robbery.

It happened just before midnight Thursday at the Extended Stay America hotel at 1500 Aero Drive in Linthicum.

A 21-year-old woman reported that a man wearing a police vest and holstered gun knocked at her door.  When she opened the door, the suspect demanded money. When she told him that she didn't have any money in her room, the suspect attempted to drag her out to the parking lot.

The victim was able to break free and report the incident to hotel personnel, who in turn called the police.

The suspect fled in a dark-colored four door vehicle, unknown make and model. Officers searched the area with no luck.

Police do not believe this was a random incident. The female victim had an ad on the Backpage.com website, soliciting escort services. Police believe that the suspect targeted her specifically from the ad.

Anyone with information is asked to call 410-222-3460.
