Man Who Choked Mother At Restaurant Sentenced

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A man who choked his mother after an argument over a trivia game at a restaurant has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Nicholas Perrin, 28, of Severna Park was sentenced Wednesday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court in Annapolis. He had pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in November.

The Capital of Annapolis reports that a judge recommended him for placement at Patuxent Institution in Jessup for mental health treatment.

Prosecutors say Nicholas Perrin and his mother, Joy Perrin, had argued over a trivia question at a Pasadena restaurant on July 3. Authorities say Nicholas Perrin got behind his mother, wrapped his legs around her torso and put her in a choke hold. Bystanders came to the woman's rescue.
