Driver Cited In Near Death Crash That Critically Injured State Trooper

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a driver in a crash that seriously injured a trooper has been issued two traffic citations.

Enrique Guzman Jr., 21, of Pasadena was given the citations Tuesday. He is charged with negligent driving and violating the state's so-called Move Over law, which requires drivers to switch lanes away from emergency vehicles.

The two violations carry fines totaling $1,030 and three points each.

Police say Guzman struck Trooper Jacqueline Kline on eastbound Route 100 on Oct. 6. Authorities say Kline was walking along the shoulder toward another patrol car when she was hit.

Kline was hospitalized for weeks. Troopers say she is continuing to improve.
