Md. Lawmaker Ousted For Misconduct Files To Run For Former Seat

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Former Prince George's County Del. Tiffany Alston, who was ousted over theft and misconduct convictions, has filed to run for her old seat.

Alston filed her candidacy for the 24th District late Tuesday, just before the deadline.

She will face nine other candidates in the district's Democratic primary, including Darren Swain, the Bowie State University official appointed last year by Gov. Martin O'Malley to fill the seat.

The appointment followed court battles over the vacancy after Alston's suspension. She argued she should get her seat back because her conviction was modified to probation before judgment.
