Officials To Tour Hagerstown's Valley Pride Plant

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Officials in Hagerstown are getting a tour of operations now underway at a new creamery in the city.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports officials will get to tour the production line and plant at the Shenandoah Family Farms Creamery on Tuesday. The location previously produced Good Humor bars for nearly 30 years before it closed in 2012.

Valley Pride LLC, a group of 21 family farms based in Harrisonburg, Va., bought the former Unilever plant in 2013.

Vice President Randy Inman has said the cooperative would hire about 35 full-time workers from the community and surrounding area to help run the plant.
