Former Maryland Head Coach Gary Williams was elected to the Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame yesterday and one of his longtime assistants joined the Sports Rehab show to discuss the honor for his former boss.

Jimmy Patsos is currently the head coach at Siena but he spent 13 years on the bench with Williams in College Park. The former Maryland assistant and Loyola head coach feels Williams did a lot more than just win basketball games. “He rejuvenated crowds, he got the whole school behind the program, he did a whole bunch of things. If he had stayed at one place, he’d probably have a hundred more wins than what he finished with.”

The induction ceremony for Williams will take place in Kansas City sometime this coming November.
