Mickey Rooney Portrait Installed At Smithsonian

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery has installed a photograph of entertainer Mickey Rooney with his frequent co-star Judy Garland to honor the late actor at the museum in Washington.

Rooney died Sunday at age 93 at his home in North Hollywood. His portrait will be on view indefinitely at the museum in a first-floor space that's designated for remembrance of recently deceased people who are represented in the collection.

Rooney first began making movies at age 5 and over the course of 10 decades, he made more than 300 films. In recent years, he had roles in "Night at the Museum" and "The Muppets." His early career was defined by the Andy Hardy series and as Garland's comrade in popular movie musicals.
