WEATHER BLOG: Freeze Warning

Rain is in the forecast for your Tuesday, and in most cases it is already falling.

The steadiest and heaviest rainfall is expected to move through the Greater Baltimore area midday on into the evening.

All of this rain is associated with a rather frisky cold front that is pushing eastward Tuesday afternoon.

As the leading edge of chillier air slowly pushes eastward, there will be a wave of low pressure developing along it that is expected to enhance our rainfall.

Amounts should average anywhere from 1"-1.5" through the evening.

Temperatures will stay in the 60s for a while, but we do expect a rapid decrease in temperatures Tuesday afternoon and even more so by the evening as we fall into the 40s.

While we are more confident now than we were Monday that this precipitation should just end as rain, it will be turning sharply colder, with many areas winding up in the 20s by daybreak Wednesday!

The push of winter-like air has prompted a Freeze Warning across central Maryland and the Eastern Shore for temperatures Tuesday night into Wednesday morning below freezing.
