Delmarva Chicken Festival To End After 65 Years

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- The Delmarva Chicken Festival, an annual tradition to promote the region's poultry industry, will hold its final event this summer.

Delmarva Poultry Industry, the festival's primary sponsor, announced this week that the event to be held June 20 and 21 near Centreville will be the last. The festival has been held annually since 1948, except for two years when outbreaks of avian flu forced its cancellation.

The festival rotated through different towns each year. It featured food, arts and crafts and live entertainment. The food included chicken cooked in a 10-foot fry pan.
