Md. Man Fined In Connection With Striped Bass
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A Lanham man has been fined $2,000 after pleading guilty to catching more than 200 undersized striped bass during a fishing trip.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources says Jose R. Amaya Chicas, 34, pleaded guilty Friday in Annapolis District Court and was given probation before judgment. He is one of four men who were ticketed on Aug. 31 of last year when a Natural Resources officer stopped their boat and found 228 striped bass under the legal minimum of 18 inches.
None of the four had a fishing license. The Department of Natural Resources says the boat's owner, 34-year-old Hervin O. Nunez-Aleman of Silver Spring, also paid a $2,000 fine after pleading guilty and being given probation before judgment last month.
