Woman Gets 30 Years In Fatal Shooting, Stabbing

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in the fatal shooting and stabbing of a man over a $200 debt.

Erica Banks, 28, of Dundalk entered an Alford plea to first-degree murder in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court just before sentencing Monday.

An Alford plea is not an admission of guilt, but an acknowledgement that prosecutors have enough evidence to gain a conviction.

Erica Banks, her father, 48-year-old Eric Banks of Baltimore and 25-year-old Tremain Calhoun Jr. of Pasadena were charged in the slaying of 26-year-old Darren Bell.

Bell was shot while he was on the phone with 911 dispatchers on Jan. 27, 2013.

Eric Banks was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Calhoun will be sentenced May 14.
