2 Confirmed As Judges In Federal Court In Maryland

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Senate has confirmed two men to serve as judges on U.S. District Court in Greenbelt, Md.

Maryland's Senators, Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin, had recommended George Hazel and Theodore Chuang to President Obama to fill vacancies on the court. They were confirmed on Thursday.

Chuang currently serves as Deputy General Counsel of the Department of Homeland Security. He earned bachelor's and law degrees from Harvard. Chuang lives in Bethesda, Md.

Hazel is chief deputy state's attorney for Baltimore. He earned a bachelor's degree from Morehouse College and a law degree from Georgetown University. Hazel lives in North Potomac, Md.
