Hardball Talk With Joe Giglio

HARDBALL TALK WITH JOE GIGLIO

Baseball season is just passed the quarter poll and Joe Giglio joined Scott and Jerermy. Stephen Drew, who was tendered a qualifying offer by the Boston Red Sox, resigned with his former team today. Joe commented on why he thinks the Red Sox brought their former short stop back. "I think they were a little bit worried about the left side of their infield that they gave the two positions too with Xander Boegarts who is a very promising prospect to play shortstop and then Will Middlebrooks who we have seen a little bit over the past few years to play third base. He has struggled a little bit and been hurt, and Boegarts hasn't emerged as quickly as they wanted."

Scott wanted to know who made out better on their qualifying offers. Nelson Cruz, who rejected his qualifying offer and signed with the Orioles in early spring training. Or Stephen Drew, who sat out a couple of months and resigned. Giglio believes the O's may have gotten the better deal. "If Cruz continues this there is a pot of gold at the end for him."

And finally there is one last major free agent out there. Kendrys Morales was offered a qualifying deal with his former team the Seattle Mariners during the winter meetings, and he finds himself without work. Jeremy asked when and where does Joe believe Morales will sign. "Its a good question. I think the closer we get to the June 5th draft, I think thats going to be when Morales will sign. There are a few teams that make a lot of sense. You look to the Milwaukee Brewers a team that has been so surprising all season."
