Officer At Traffic Stop Run Over By Minivan

FORESTVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County Police say an officer was seriously injured when he was run over by a minivan while he was on a traffic stop.

It happened about 9 a.m. Thursday in Forestville. Police say three patrol officers were on the scene of a traffic stop when they saw a minivan headed toward them.

Authorities say the officers tried to jump out of the way, but one was hit and was trapped under the vehicle.

Police say officers and first responders with the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department lifted the minivan off the injured officer.

Authorities say the officer was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center with serious injuries.

The incident is under investigation.
