Shawn Simpson was a former goaltender for the Baltimore Skipjacks and also worked with the Capitals organization.

Shawn joined Steve and Jason La Canfora to talk about the Caps promoting George McPhee’s assitant Brian MacLellan as their new GM.

Shawn started by talking about George McPhee and bringing Brian MacLellan into the organization as his assistant at first. Shawn said that George and Brian grew up together and became close and that’s how MacLellan moved his way up the organization. Shawn was not a big fan of the MacLellan hire saying on twitter that he “had never seen a lazier hockey person.”

Shawn also went on to talk about how Barry Trotz is a great hire and a great hockey mind who will help to change this teams thinking. Shawn also cautioned people that this is a long process that could take 4-6 years because they need to draft a whole new set of defenseman to fix their deficiencies.
