Md. Airport Managers Meeting In Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Airport managers from across Maryland are meeting in Frederick to discuss issues involving private aircraft and their pilots.

The Maryland Regional Aviation Conference opens Thursday and runs through Friday. A festival of flight is scheduled Saturday at Frederick Municipal Airport in conjunction with the event.

The conference includes talks by Federal Aviation Administration officials about drones and aircraft maintenance. The Transportation Safety Administration is scheduled to discuss security issues. And the Maryland Office of Regional Aviation Assistance is offering information on airport funding.

The agency says Maryland has 136 airports, including 36 with public-use facilities. Just three Maryland airports offer scheduled air carrier service.
