Baltimore City 911 Center Experiences Delays Answering Calls; System Now Fixed
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Major problems at Baltimore City's 911 call center. Officials experienced delays answering emergency calls for several hours.

The problems at the 911 center began around 5 p.m. Monday and lasted well into the night. Officials say there was some sort of phone glitch delaying them from answering some calls to 911.
At this point, they don't know exactly what caused the delay. They say some people who called into 911 got an automated recording, while others got a busy signal.
Verizon switched to a secondary system to try and resolve the problem. The 911 system is completely back to normal operations.
The Baltimore City 911 center receives about 3,800 calls per day.
